System Analysis

The Nutrient Bucket system is the standard for long-term, fruiting crops. Unlike NFT or Aeroponics, this system uses an aggregate medium (like perlite) to support the heavy root structure of clear-stemmed plants like tomatoes.

The key innovation is the "siphon elbow" at the bottom of each bucket. It maintains a small reservoir of water (about 1 inch) at the bottom even when the pump is off, providing a safety buffer against power failures and ensuring roots never dry out completely.
